Police step up searches in Kadapa ahead of local elections

Police in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, have stepped up searches and foot patrols in several villages ahead of local body elections.

They checked suspicious people, raised awareness about election rules and warned residents against actions that could disrupt peace.

In Moragudi, police seized 17 two-wheelers and five auto-rickshaws that lacked proper documents.

The measures are intended to prevent unlawful activity and reassure residents as polling approaches.

Separately, the district police chief told accommodation providers to register details of foreign nationals and Overseas Citizen of India cardholders online within 24 hours of their arrival.

The police said failing to follow the 2025 immigration rules could lead to legal action and penalties of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh.
