Lachie Whitfield joins Carlton in trade with Greater Western Sydney

Lachie Whitfield has joined Carlton after a trade with Greater Western Sydney, also known as GWS.

The 32-year-old returns to Victoria after playing 278 games across 14 seasons with the Giants.

Carlton receives Whitfield and draft picks 31 and 50, while GWS gets picks 25 and 26 and a 2028 third-round pick.

Whitfield was selected first overall in the 2012 draft and has been named an All-Australian twice.

He is known for his ball use and running play, and Carlton says his experience and consistency will help its younger players.

The move adds an experienced playmaker to Carlton’s squad as the club builds for future seasons.

Whitfield has signed a three-year deal with Carlton.
