Study links earlier immune decline in males to weaker cancer recognition
The immune system changes as people age, but the study found that this happens differently in males and females.
In male mice, key T cells declined earlier, while lymph nodes also shrank sooner.
This left fewer cells available to recognize cancer, though temporarily restoring thymus activity improved responses in the mice.
The findings may help researchers understand how age and sex affect cancer treatment responses.
