TSE chief to meet Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro campaign legal teams

Kassio Nunes Marques, president of Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court, has called the legal teams for Lula’s and Flávio Bolsonaro’s campaigns to a meeting on Tuesday.

Lula’s team had questioned rulings by Nunes Marques that benefited Flávio’s campaign.

The latest ruling ordered WhatsApp to suspend a channel called “Exército do Lula,” run by federal lawmaker André Janones.

Flávio’s campaign had accused Janones of using the channel to spread false information and coordinate attacks, but the court’s technical team said it did not find the cited claims in the channel’s posts from October 2 to 11.

Electoral court official Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva overturned the suspension and ordered the channel restored until the full court reviews the issue.

The channel had more than three million users and was part of Lula’s campaign effort to mobilize online supporters.

The meeting was scheduled about a week earlier, and its stated purpose was not the recent disputes between the campaigns.
