Flying Whales plans three airship bases and pilot school in Mexico

Mexico’s Economy Ministry has formalized an agreement with French-Canadian aviation start-up Flying Whales to share information and work together on plans in Mexico.

The company intends to open three airship manufacturing bases and a school for pilots.

The possible investment is $300 million over the next three years and could create 300 local jobs.

Flying Whales develops airships to carry heavy cargo, including to places that are hard to reach by road or other transport.

The company says its technology could support emergency aid and medical equipment deliveries, and help reduce the environmental impact of transport.

It is also developing a mobile hospital that could be carried in an airship.

The plans were announced, but no opening dates were given.
