Weston family to acquire U.K. pharmacy chain Boots for $12.7 billion
The Weston family is buying Boots, a major pharmacy chain in the U.K. and Ireland.
Its holding company, Wittington Investments, will pay $12.7 billion, including debt.
Retail analyst Bruce Winder says Boots may need investment and could improve its stores, online shopping and services.
The deal could help the family expand its retail business, while bringing changes to a chain many customers rely on.
