India Sioux Says Mitos del Ring Let Wrestlers Try Something Different
CMLL created Mitos del Ring in June, blending Mexican wrestling with ideas from pre-Hispanic culture and Mesoamerican worldviews.
Wrestler India Sioux took part as the character Mayahuel.
She said she was unsure at first whether audiences would like the unusual concept, but became fascinated when she entered the ring as Mayahuel.
Sioux said most of Mayahuel’s appearances were meet-and-greets held when Arena México opened.
She left the role halfway through the project because of other commitments, and Olympia joined the cast.
Sioux said she believes the project has more potential and hopes it may return and reach other parts of the world.

What people are saying
I mean, you see wrestling in a different light, but in the end, it’s still wrestling, and it allowed us, as wrestlers, to try something different, like stepping into the shoes of another character, which was incredible.
I believe this project has a lot more potential, and I hope they’ll see it that way in the future and give it a chance to even take it to other parts of the world.
