Tim Tszyu to challenge Erislandy Lara for WBA middleweight title in Australia

Tim Tszyu will fight Erislandy Lara for the WBA middleweight title in Australia, according to promoter No Limit Boxing.

The fight is expected in late November, but the date, city and venue are still undecided.

Tszyu, a former super welterweight world champion, is seeking a title in a second division.

His father, Kostya Tszyu, won world titles at light welterweight, and Tim says he wants to build a legacy of his own.

Lara is the reigning WBA middleweight champion and has made four successful defences since winning the belt in 2021.

The unbeaten-to-stoppage veteran brings a 32-3-3 record and has never been stopped.

Tszyu has won three straight fights, including a unanimous decision over Errol Spence Jr in July, and says middleweight is now his division.

Promoters are expected to announce the fight’s date and location, while no undercard names have been confirmed.

I don’t want the easy road. I want the man with the belt, and I’ll drag him into a fight he doesn’t want.
