GE Aerospace to invest £57m in Prestwick aircraft repair facilities

GE Aerospace is investing £30 million to expand and modernise its aircraft maintenance site beside Prestwick Airport in South Ayrshire.

The wider £57 million project also includes £27 million from the Ayrshire Growth Deal and a planned £6 million investment from Scottish Enterprise.

The work includes a new 55,000-square-foot building and is expected to create 150 jobs over five years.

The company says the upgrade will increase the site’s capacity and help it support customers across its commercial aircraft repair network.

GE Aerospace is also giving £75,000 to Ayrshire College for training equipment and a course for people preparing for aerospace careers.

The project builds on the region’s engineering work and is intended to strengthen Prestwick’s role in the UK aerospace sector.

Work is scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2028.
