Norway begins 15-year LNG supply agreement with India

Norway has begun supplying liquefied natural gas, or LNG, to India, with the first shipment arriving in Gujarat earlier this year.

The delivery came from Equinor, a Norwegian company, under a 15-year supply agreement.

The two countries are also working together on renewable energy, green hydrogen, offshore wind and green shipping.

Norwegian companies are contributing technology, investment and expertise to India's energy transition.

The partnership is growing alongside the India-EFTA trade agreement, which has improved market access and business confidence.

Norwegian seafood exports to India rose by 24 per cent from October 2025 to August 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, while salmon exports rose by 143 per cent.

Around 160 Norwegian companies already do business in India, and both countries are seeing interest in areas including maritime technology, health technology and digital solutions.
