Bank Mandiri Adds Gold Services to Livin' App

Bank Mandiri has added a set of gold services to its Livin' banking app in Indonesia.

Customers can open gold savings accounts, buy and sell gold, pay for purchases in instalments and arrange physical collection through the app.

The bank says transactions are available in real time, and customers can collect bars at branches or through its Gold ATM machines.

The launch follows the bank receiving a bullion licence from Indonesia's Financial Services Authority, making it the country's first conventional bank with one.

Customers can start a gold account with a deposit of 0.02 grams, or about 50,000 rupiah, and later purchases can start at 0.005 grams, or about 10,000 rupiah.

The move comes as demand for gold bars and coins in Indonesia rose 40% year on year to 15 tonnes in the second quarter of 2026, according to the World Gold Council figures cited in the reports.

Bank Mandiri says it is preparing further features, including loans backed by gold, automatic regular gold purchases and transfers between customers.
