Kaia to burn 4.9 million tokens and add JPYC to rewards program
Kaia DLT Foundation plans to burn about 4.9 million KAIA tokens from its blockchain network, with the first part scheduled for Oct.
21 and the rest for November.
The foundation will add JPYC, a yen stablecoin, to its reward program starting Oct.
21.
Until now, only deposits of the stablecoin USDT counted toward these rewards.
The program rewards users who deposit a stablecoin in a designated protocol and stake KAIA in the same wallet.
Users must stake 10 KAIA for each dollar's worth of USDT or JPYC for their deposits to count.
The monthly reward pool is fixed at 2.5 million KAIA, and tokens not paid out because users do not qualify are burned.
The change lets JPYC depositors qualify, while the foundation's planned token burns will reduce the amount of KAIA in circulation.
The Kaia DLT Foundation said it will burn about 4.9 million KAIA tokens.
It plans to burn 2,463,579 KAIA on Oct. 21 and the remaining 2,441,567 tokens during November.
From Oct. 21, the foundation will add the yen stablecoin JPYC to its Contribution Reward program.
The program rewards eligible users with KAIA based on their contribution to the network.
Users must stake 10 KAIA for each US$1 of eligible USDT or JPYC held in the same wallet.
