Police rescue 24-year-old woman from the sea in Riposto

A 24-year-old woman was rescued from the sea in Riposto, a town in Sicily, after she left home in a fragile state and with suicidal intentions.

Carabinieri alerted local police that she was missing, and officers began searching the coast shortly after 1 p.m.

Police found her moving away from shore near Viale Amendola.

The local police commander spoke with her and used a calm, reassuring approach to gain her trust.

The conversation persuaded her to return to the beach, where officers brought her to safety.

She was taken to hospital in Giarre for medical care, and no further developments were reported.
