MBRF Pet begins exporting wet pet food to the United States

MBRF Pet, the pet-food division of Brazilian food group MBRF, has started exporting wet food for dogs and cats to the United States.

The company says these higher-value products account for more than 40% of global pet-food industry revenue.

MBRF Pet already sells in 20 markets, up from 15 two years ago, and says overseas sales grew 18% this year.

Exports and other sales outside Brazil make up nearly a fifth of the division’s revenue.

The company plans to enter the US gradually by building its brand and getting its wet food onto store shelves.

It may later sell dry food there through Paraguay, where one of its export-approved plants is located.

MBRF Pet aims to reach 26 overseas markets by the end of 2027 and says it will focus on organic growth rather than acquisitions for now.
