Meteorite crashed through a car trunk in New York in 1992

A space rock crossed the sky over several US states before hitting a parked car in Peekskill, New York.

It punched through the car’s trunk and weighed about 12 kilograms.

Videos of its fiery flight helped scientists work out its path to Earth.

Such detailed records of a meteorite’s journey are rare.
