Man charged with murder over fatal shooting of 12-year-old in Sydney
A 12-year-old boy was shot in Sydney’s north on 21 September 2026.
Police found him with gunshot wounds to his face and neck, and he died in hospital three days later.
A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder; he was 18 at the time of the shooting and was arrested at Silverwater correctional facility.
Nine other people were in the home when the shooting happened, and none was injured.
Police said the shooting did not appear to be directly linked to current conflicts, but they were considering possible organised-crime associations.
Two other men arrested earlier were released pending further inquiries, while a third remains before the courts on a charge of concealing a serious indictable offence.
The accused man is due to appear in court.
