Shami takes four wickets as Bengal dismiss Delhi for 240

Bengal dismissed Delhi for 240 on the first day of their Group C Ranji Trophy match in Kalyani.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami took four wickets for 30 runs in his return to domestic cricket.

Bengal had chosen to bowl, and its seamers used the movement in the conditions to trouble Delhi’s batters.

Off-spinner Amir Ghani took three wickets, while Hrithik Shokeen top-scored for Delhi with 56 and Ayush Doseja made 45.

The Ranji Trophy is a domestic competition in India, and Shami’s performance comes as selectors consider players for the national team.

He has said in recent weeks that it would not be his loss if he did not play for India again.

Delhi’s innings ended after 77.3 overs, and the match was still under way.
