Karachi school cricketer named Adam Gilchrist scores 117 in PCB tournament

A 17-year-old cricketer in Karachi named Adam Gilchrist has drawn attention after scoring 117 runs in a school match.

He plays for Kamran Public School as a left-handed opening batter and wicketkeeper.

Against Happy Palace Grammar School, he made 117 from 108 balls, including 11 fours.

His team scored 297 for four in 40 overs and won by 172 runs.

His mother chose Adam as his first name, and his cricket-loving father added Gilchrist after the Australian cricket legend.

The young player says his own favourite is former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara.

The match was part of a Pakistan Cricket Board school tournament intended to give young players a chance to show their skills.

The tournament is due to continue through district and provincial rounds to national finals.
