ICE officer shoots man in New York’s Marble Hill neighborhood
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot Oscar Belgal, 28, during an operation in Marble Hill, a neighborhood considered part of Manhattan but geographically in the Bronx.
Belgal was wounded in the neck and survived; his five-year-old son was in the car and was not hurt.
Federal officials say Belgal accelerated into government vehicles and toward officers, who fired because they feared for safety.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said officers did not know the child was in the car.
