Amit Shah accuses Rahul Gandhi of spreading lies about voter roll revision

Amit Shah accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading false claims about a voter roll revision process called special intensive revision, or SIR.

Shah said Gandhi was using the issue to distract from Congress’s election losses and to protect people he described as infiltrators registered to vote.

Opposition parties are protesting SIR and have called for Election Commission chief Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

The dispute is part of a wider argument over whether the Election Commission is acting fairly in elections.

Shah pointed to recent local election wins by the BJP and its allies, including contests held using paper ballots, to argue that voters support them.

The BJP says these results show public confidence, while opposition parties have raised concerns about the voter roll process.

BJP and JD(U) leaders also challenged opposition-run state governments to resign if they believe elections held after SIR are rigged.
