Patients’ preferred music reduced pain during IV insertion, study finds

Researchers studied 204 people having an IV cannula inserted before an MRI.

Those who listened to music they had chosen reported less pain.

Mozart helped only people who already had pain, and relaxation music did not reduce pain.

The findings suggest that a patient’s own music may help make a brief medical procedure more comfortable.
