Karthik says Abhishek Sharma is pairing T20 power with smarter decisions

India opener Abhishek Sharma scored 69 runs from 30 balls against the West Indies in Indore.

His innings helped India make 223, and India won by 14 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20 series.

Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik said Sharma is combining his attacking style with better decisions about when to assess conditions and when to attack.

He pointed to Sharma taking time to judge the pitch against spinner Roston Chase before returning to aggressive batting.

Karthik also credited former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who has mentored Sharma, with helping him pace his innings.

Sharma reached 2,000 T20 international runs in 1,024 balls, the fastest batter to reach that mark by balls faced.

India are due to play the fourth match in Hyderabad on October 14, with a win potentially securing the series with one match remaining.
