High-speed trains begin between Çerkezköy and Edirne

Passenger trains have begun running on the new Çerkezköy–Kapıkule railway line in Turkey.

The first high-speed train carrying passengers left Edirne on October 10, a day after the line was opened.

The service connects Çerkezköy and Edirne, and the trip between them takes 54 minutes.

Trains stop at Büyükkarıştıran, Lüleburgaz and Babaeski.

There are three high-speed trains a day in each direction, with 411 seats per train, including two for wheelchair users.

The new service is part of the larger Halkalı–Kapıkule high-speed rail project.

A separate regional service between Halkalı and Uzunköprü continues, bringing the total to eight passenger train trips a day across the new and existing routes.
