Two-way shipping resumes on the IJssel between Arnhem and Zutphen
Ships can again travel in both directions on the IJssel between Arnhem and the Twentekanaal area, with one source specifying the stretch to Zutphen.
Since late September, vessels had been allowed to travel only south because the river was low.
Rising water levels led Rijkswaterstaat to lift the restriction on 12 October.
Inland ships had faced detours of hundreds of kilometres, and some had to travel many extra kilometres.
The restored two-way route removes the need for those detours for ships using this stretch of river.
The change took effect at 09:00 on 12 October, according to one source.
