INEC lists 19 candidates for Taraba’s 2027 governorship election

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission has listed 19 candidates for Taraba State’s governorship election on 6 February 2027.

Incumbent Governor Agbu Kefas is running for the All Progressives Congress, while former senator Emmanuel Bwacha is the Peoples Democratic Party candidate.

The two have switched parties since the 2023 election, when Kefas won for the PDP and Bwacha ran for the APC.

Former senator Abubakar Tutare is the African Democratic Congress candidate, and 2023 runner-up Muhammad Yahaya is now running for the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

The candidates represent 19 political parties, and INEC’s final list also names their running mates.

The election will decide who leads a state where infrastructure, agriculture, jobs, education, healthcare, security and public finances are important concerns.

Kefas will be seeking another mandate, while challengers will need to explain how they would address those issues.

The published list gives voters an official reference for the candidates ahead of the election.
