Italy expects first results from €380 million disability programme by November

Italy’s Life and Opportunities programme has received more than 1,100 applications from third-sector organisations.

The call for applications closed at the end of August, and review panels are now assessing the proposals.

Disability Minister Alessandra Locatelli hopes to have at least the first results by the end of November.

The programme has €380 million for projects covering housing, work and leisure.

Its leisure focus includes social, cultural and sporting activities and relationships.

Applicants requested a total of €1.3 billion, far more than the available funding.

The high number of applications exceeded the ministry’s expectation of 250 to 300.
