Germany seeks to keep a seat on the ECB’s executive board

Germany wants to keep a strong role in the European Central Bank.

It plans to propose someone to replace Isabel Schnabel, who is leaving for a job at the International Monetary Fund.

The move may mean Germany will not seek the bank’s top job, but that has not been confirmed.

Countries must submit candidates for Schnabel’s seat by 28 October.
