Public Sénat staff question expenses claimed by channel president

Public Sénat is a parliamentary television channel in France, and Jean-Emmanuel Casalta has been its president since 2025.

Reports have raised questions about whether he claimed personal spending as work expenses paid with public money.

The expenses reportedly include about €12,000 for flights to Corsica, where he lives, as well as hotel stays and a €1,000 car rental.

Some hotel bookings have drawn attention because their dates or costs appear unusual, or because another person may have benefited.

Casalta gave explanations at an extraordinary meeting of the channel’s staff committee on 8 October.

Employees plan to meet on 12 October to discuss those explanations.

Casalta is due to appear before a Senate committee on 20 October.
