Hamilton and Westcourt launch a fund combining nine ETFs
Hamilton Capital Partners and Westcourt Capital launched a new ETF in Toronto called the Westcourt Hamilton Yield Portfolio ETF.
It is a fund of funds, meaning it invests in other funds, and holds nine Hamilton covered-call ETFs.
Hamilton provides the funds, while Westcourt manages the portfolio strategy and adjusts how much the ETF allocates to each one.
Westcourt had already managed a similar portfolio for clients for about two years, but doing so for more clients was time-consuming.
Canada's ETF market is nearing $1-trillion in assets, and actively managed ETFs now hold $315-billion, more than a third of the market.
That larger market, along with better technology and streamlined regulation, is making it easier for smaller firms to bring niche investment strategies to investors.
