Storm waves damage Long Beach homes and tear away part of boardwalk

Waves and high tides eroded the shoreline and damaged a wooden barrier, letting water reach nearby homes and streets.

Nearly 30 feet of boardwalk was torn away, and one home began to crumble toward the ocean.

Officials marked two homes unsafe to enter, but said no one was displaced.

Crews used sandbags and continued inspections as more severe weather threatened.
