Italian cruise ports handled a record 6.1 million passengers this summer

Italy's cruise ports handled 6.1 million passenger movements between June and August 2026, a record for the summer period.

That was 4.5% more than in the same months of 2025, across more than 60 ports.

The ports also recorded 2,314 ship calls, up 14.9% from a year earlier.

July was the busiest month, with more than 2.16 million passenger movements and nearly 200,000 more than in July 2025.

The summer accounted for about 60% of passenger traffic in the first eight months of the year.

Risposte Turismo forecasts 15.4 million passenger movements and more than 6,000 ship calls across Italy for the full year, both expected to be records.

The figures highlight how strongly cruise activity is concentrated in summer, even as operators work to spread travel across more of the year.
