India’s Nifty 50 was expected to open slightly higher on Monday, based on GIFT Nifty futures.

The futures were quoted at 22,630, up 10 points.

Asian markets moved in different directions: South Korea’s KOSPI fell 2 per cent, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.59 per cent, and Japan’s market was closed for a holiday.

Traders were cautious ahead of the start of the earnings season.

Oil prices declined after US President Donald Trump announced an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, with December Brent crude futures at $103.17 a barrel.

US stock indexes had closed higher on Friday, and US futures also rose early Monday.

Companies including HCL Technologies, ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company, RBL Bank and Swaraj Engines were due to release quarterly results that day.
