India to release inflation and foreign reserve data this week
India is due to release three economic updates this week: September retail inflation, September wholesale inflation and foreign exchange reserves data.
Retail inflation figures are scheduled for October 12, wholesale figures for October 14 and reserves data for October 16.
In August, retail inflation rose to 4.82 per cent from 4.45 per cent in July, with food prices a key pressure.
Wholesale inflation also rose, reaching 9.92 per cent in August from 9.78 per cent in July.
India’s foreign exchange reserves fell for a fourth straight week, dropping to $734.6 billion in the week ended October 2.
The central bank has sold dollars to help limit pressure on the rupee, while higher crude oil prices have also weighed on reserves.
Despite the decline, the RBI governor said reserves could cover about 11 months of imports and equalled 94.4 per cent of external debt.
India is due to release September retail inflation data on October 12, followed by wholesale inflation data on October 14.
The Reserve Bank of India will release foreign exchange reserves data for the week ended October 9 on October 16.
