Navaratri Brahmotsavams begin at Tirumala with traditional processions

The annual Navaratri Brahmotsavams began on Monday at Tirumala, a hill temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara.

In the morning, the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy and his consorts, Sridevi and Bhudevi, were carried along the streets around the temple.

The evening procession used the Pedda Sesha Vahanam, representing Adisesha, a serpent revered as one of Lord Venkateswara’s foremost devotees and attendants.

Malayappa Swamy and his consorts were dressed for the procession, which drew a large number of devotees.

The festival’s ceremonies were attended by the Tirumala pontiffs and senior officials of the temple trust.

The celebrations are continuing, but no further schedule is provided.
