Infinite Partners raises $169.3 million for South African growth businesses

Infinite Partners, a South African private equity firm, has raised R2.8 billion, or $169.3 million, for its second fund.

The fund exceeded its R2.5 billion target and is backed entirely by South African institutional investors.

It will invest R100 million to R500 million in established mid-sized businesses with growth potential.

Infinite Partners is not a technology-only investor, but it looks at how technology can help businesses grow, work more efficiently and reach more people.

Its first investments are e4, which provides software for banking and property transactions, and CYNK, which builds and owns fibre networks.

The firm says e4’s technology has cut the home-buying process from 96 days to about 40, while CYNK’s network reaches more than 667,000 South African households.

Infinite Partners is also exploring investments in business services, education, alternative lending and software, and says it may support international expansion where appropriate.
