Police investigate Mark Dennis's links to a Cambodian children's charity
Mark Dennis was a criminal defence barrister in Sydney who supported the Cambodian children's charity Sunrise Cambodia.
In January, police searched him at Sydney Airport after a trip to Cambodia and found material on his devices that led to his arrest and child abuse material charges.
He was released on bail and later found dead at his home in Sydney's inner west.
His death did not end the investigation: Australian and Cambodian police have continued probing his network and links to the charity.
Former Sunrise staff have alleged that Dennis sexually harassed a staff member and made teenage girls uncomfortable by touching them excessively.
Sunrise says it knew of no complaints about him, and police told the charity that no current or former Sunrise child had been identified as one of his victims.
The investigation raises questions about how children's charities can protect children while also relying on major donors, and police inquiries are continuing.
