Lula’s campaign plans hopeful messaging and attacks on Flávio Bolsonaro

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s campaign is planning its final stretch of TV advertising in Brazil’s election.

It aims to divide the messaging equally between proposals and criticism of his opponent, Flávio Bolsonaro.

The proposal-focused ads are expected to stress hope and feature young people.

Lula’s allies have advised him to acknowledge that people’s lives are still difficult, including because the cost of living remains high.

The campaign also wants to argue that Lula can bring prices down and improve people’s lives.

Its criticism of Flávio is expected to focus on concerns about social programs, the 6x1 work schedule and alleged threats to democracy, as well as linking him to the Banco Master scandal.

The campaign may increase its attacks as the election nears, and is considering an updated version of an ad about taxing banks, betting companies and billionaires.
