Police reportedly suspect Netanyahu aide removed about 30 classified records
Israeli police reportedly suspect Tzachi Braverman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff, improperly removed about 30 classified records from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The records concerned security discussions about Gaza before Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack, and reportedly include discussions under both Netanyahu’s government and the previous Bennett-Lapid government.
Police reportedly believe Braverman may have wanted to shape the account of decisions and failures before the attack.
The allegations follow claims that he tried to change records of when Netanyahu was first told about the Hamas invasion that morning.
Braverman has also been accused of involvement in a separate classified-document leak case and faces an indictment related to that matter.
Hebrew media have reported police believe they have enough evidence to charge him over the records, but Haaretz quoted sources who said a charge appeared unlikely because it could be hard to prove the change was intentional.
The reports do not say whether Braverman will be charged over the records.
