Singapore expands learning and job support for people with disabilities

Singapore’s disability agency, SG Enable, announced new initiatives on Oct 12 to widen learning and work opportunities for people with disabilities.

A new advisory committee will bring together people from disability, training and employment sectors to help make courses accessible and relevant to learners and employers.

A sector training programme will give participants a more structured path from skills training to jobs, including chances to visit workplaces and explore different roles.

First tested in hospitality, the programme is set to expand to food and beverage, logistics, information and communications technology, healthcare, and human resources and administration.

SG Enable expects to train and support 800 people through it from 2026 to 2030.

The agency will also extend a 95 per cent course fee grant to eligible mainstream training, and help educators and providers improve their disability awareness and make courses more accessible.

The measures are part of Singapore’s wider effort to support people with disabilities through learning, employment and different stages of life.
