VMware plans paid HyperArmor tool as patch releases speed up
VMware has moved to monthly software updates for VMware Cloud Foundation, partly to address flaws found with AI.
Customers had struggled to test patches quickly enough, so the company says they need more time to manage changes.
Its new tool, HyperArmor, is an add-on for VMware Cloud Foundation.
It can block traffic linked to attempts to exploit vulnerabilities without changing the affected software.
It can also reject changes to known good system settings unless a person approves them.
To help prevent attackers with stolen privileged credentials from taking over an ESX hypervisor, HyperArmor requires a second authentication step alongside SSH credentials.
VMware plans to sell the tool separately, and Broadcom's Symantec and Carbon Black businesses developed it.
