Tax-Free Childcare can provide eligible families up to £2,000 per child

The UK’s Tax-Free Childcare scheme helps eligible working families pay for childcare.

For every £8 a family puts into its online account, the government adds £2, up to £2,000 per child each year or £4,000 for a disabled child.

The money can pay for registered childcare such as nurseries, childminders and after-school clubs.

Families may qualify if they earn below £100,000 and have a child under 11, or under 16 if the child is disabled.

Eligibility also depends on work, income, a child’s circumstances and immigration status.

The support can be used alongside 15 or 30 hours of free childcare if a family qualifies for both.

To keep receiving government contributions, families must confirm their details with HMRC every three months or payments will stop.
