Swiatek praises Chinese fans ahead of Wuhan Open

Iga Swiatek, a six-time Grand Slam winner and world No.

9, is competing at the 2026 Wuhan Open in China.

She said she is repeatedly surprised by the enthusiasm of Chinese fans, including their handmade gifts and letters.

Swiatek said their support helps her keep going late in the season.

She received a first-round bye and will play fellow Pole Magdalena Frech, ranked No.

56, in the second round.

Last year, Swiatek reached the quarter-finals on her Wuhan debut.

She was also knocked out in the quarter-finals at the Beijing tournament last week by Elise Mertens.

Swiatek said this season has been less consistent than her previous ones and that she hopes to finish it with a strong result.
