Hong Kong watchdog suspends trading in third listed company in a month

Hong Kong’s securities watchdog ordered trading in Chabaidao to stop before the market opened on Tuesday.

Chabaidao is a Chinese bubble-tea maker listed in Hong Kong.

The Securities and Futures Commission used a rule that allows it to suspend a stock over materially false or misleading information, or to protect fair and orderly trading.

It was the third suspension under the rule since September 10, pointing to a tougher approach to listed companies.

The watchdog had suspended biotechnology firm Cloudbreak over potential IPO manipulation and Silver Grant International Holdings Group over the flow of loan proceeds.

The commission gave no further details about Chabaidao’s suspension.

The sources do not say when trading will resume.
