South Tyrol union seeks €500 energy bonus as Alperia appointments spark row

South Tyrol union seeks €500 energy bonus as Alperia appointments spark row

Energy prices have nearly doubled amid the Homuz crisis and international instability, according to the story.

In South Tyrol, the Asgb union is asking the provincial government to help households as well as businesses, which have secured a discounted-energy deal with Alperia.

The union proposes a one-off €500 payment for people with incomes below €46,000, using a scheme previously applied in 2022.

It also wants higher help with rent and household costs, and the return of a €250 commuting allowance cut this year.

The requests are being considered as the province discusses its 2027 budget in the coming weeks.

Separately, Alperia’s board has approved appointments to lead its seven subsidiaries, with the League saying it was left without any chairmanships.

The dispute has prompted the League to accuse Brothers of Italy of breaking their agreement, though the League says it will remain loyal to the mayor and governing majority.
