Indonesia’s budget deficit reaches Rp 319 trillion by September

Indonesia’s national budget had a deficit of Rp 319 trillion by the end of September 2026, equal to 1.24% of gross domestic product.

A deficit means the government spent more than it received.

Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said the deficit was planned and was on track.

Government spending had reached Rp 2,660.5 trillion, while revenue was reported at Rp 2,314.5 trillion.

The government had also taken on Rp 494.3 trillion in new borrowing, about 59.4% of its annual target.

Nazara said borrowing was under control and that the government was watching market conditions as it issued government bonds.

The government expects the deficit to reach 2.8% of GDP by the end of 2026.
