China’s e-commerce logistics index rose slightly in September

China’s e-commerce logistics index rose 0.4 points to 111.9 in September, according to figures released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

The index tracks activity in the country’s e-commerce delivery sector, and its rise suggests logistics operations improved slightly from August.

Online orders increased as seasonal shopping and holiday purchases boosted demand for clothing, travel equipment, gifts and consumer electronics.

Rural e-commerce activity also reached a year-to-date high, with its index rising 0.8 points to 128.4.

Better delivery networks are helping farmers send products to customers, while logistics costs fell and delivery services improved.

Logistics companies are upgrading warehouses and delivery capacity ahead of the busy online shopping season.

With promotions approaching and consumer demand expected to grow, the index is expected to keep rising.
