Grüüün to end electricity supply to about 200,000 customers on October 31

Grüüün to end electricity supply to about 200,000 customers on October 31

Grüüün, a green electricity provider based in Bavaria, will stop supplying private customers across Germany on October 31, 2026.

About 200,000 customers will need to find another electricity supplier.

The company started in 2024 and offered fixed-price contracts lasting up to ten years, although network charges, taxes and fees could change.

Grüüün says planned changes to energy laws and electricity grid rules mean it can no longer keep its price guarantees or secure the renewable electricity it expected to supply.

Customers who have not chosen another supplier will automatically move to their local basic service, which may cost more than other tariffs.

The company says customers should check their final bill, which must arrive within six weeks after supply ends.

Whether Grüüün can end existing contracts early depends on their terms.
