Apple expected to unveil smart home devices at Welcome Home event
Apple is expected to announce new smart home products at its upcoming Welcome Home event in New York City.
The central device is reportedly a hub called HomeView, planned in free-standing and wall-mounted versions.
It is expected to have a display and voice controls, and to connect with accessories such as doorbells and smart locks made with LG.
Apple has struggled to gain ground in smart homes since launching HomeKit in 2014, while Amazon and Google expanded through acquisitions.
The expected lineup would mark a broader effort to connect Apple devices and other home products.
Apple may also announce updated Apple TV and HomePod models, but details have not been confirmed.
The devices are expected to reach stores on October 30, though Apple has not announced official release dates.
