Paris Motor Show opens with more than 20 Chinese automakers

The 2026 Paris Motor Show opened in Paris on October 12, with carmakers from several countries taking part.

More than 20 Chinese vehicle brands exhibited, a sharp increase from the 2024 show.

They included BYD, GAC, Li Auto, XPeng, Changan and Geely, with many presenting vehicles for European and global markets.

French President Emmanuel Macron attended the opening and called for protecting the car industry, expanding electric vehicle production and strengthening Europe’s competitiveness.

Renault unveiled its E-Space concept car, while BYD introduced its ATTO 8 electric vehicle for the European market.

Tesla displayed its Cybercab self-driving taxi publicly in Europe for the first time, but it was shown only as a stationary exhibit.

The show is an established event that dates back to 1898 and has been held every two years in autumn since 1976.
