Davidovich beats Hurkacz to reach Shanghai quarter-finals
Alejandro Davidovich beat Hubert Hurkacz 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6) at the Shanghai Masters in China.
The Spanish player recovered after losing the first set, breaking Hurkacz’s serve twice in the second and winning a close final-set tie-break.
It was Davidovich’s second win over Hurkacz in two weeks; he had also beaten the Polish player in the Chengdu final.
The result sends Davidovich to his sixth Masters 1000 quarter-final, and his first since Monte Carlo in 2025.
His next opponent is Arthur Gea, a French player ranked 44th who reached the quarter-finals by beating Jakub Mensik.
Gea has reached the top 50 for the first time, and the pair will meet in the Shanghai quarter-finals.
